A. : If you want to assign an image to a selection of mp3's you could already select them, edit them and then assign one. The new option is even much easier! Just drag a .jpg or .bmp image to your selection of mp3's in the library view or to a selected album in the album list and you will be promted if you would like the image embedded in the MP3 (ID3v2 tag) or saved as Folder.jpg in the selection's folder(s). Remember, if Solid Player finds both an embedded image and a Folder.jpg for a specific MP3, the embedded image has priority over the folder image.
A. :
- Library : Use the 'Scan for songs' button' or just drag and drop a folder (or folders) from outside Solid Player onto the library
- Playlist : Add to playlist from within the library (right click a song and choose Append or Insert option) or just drag and drop a folder (or folders) from outside Solid Player onto the playlist (this will add them to the library as well if they weren't in there already)
A. If you have a .jpg of the cover of an album, simply copy it to the folder containing that album's MP3's and make sure it's called 'Folder.jpg', now refresh the particular album from within Solid Player and it will use the Folder.jpg as cover image. In the process a file called AlbumArtSmall.jpg is created in the same folder.
A. Right-click on the artist or title label with the mouse
A. Double-click on it with the mouse
A. Just a few.
- To navigate through the library or playlists you can use the Home, End, Page Up, Page Down and arrow keys.
- The library and playlists are multi select, use Ctrl+A to select everything, use the mouse or arrow keys and the Ctrl or Shift key to make selections
- You can move your selection of mp3's in your playlist up (] key) and down (' key)
- You can edit the name of a playlist by pressing the F2 key
A. I'll explain. Most 'normal' users will most likely never use the columns described below though.
- The column 'Tag Version' will show the tag version with which the MP3 is tagged. It can be either ID3v1 (1.0 or 1.1) and/or ID3v2 (2.2, 2.3 or 2.4). By looking at this column it's easy to see which MP3's only have eg an ID3v1 tag and no ID3v2 tag (or the other way around) which might be the reason they don't show up in some programs. By saving the tag again with Solid Player the MP3 will be tagged with both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags
- The 'ID3v1=ID3v2?' column will show if the contents of both tag versions are the same. They are considered equal if Artist, Album, Title, Comment, Year and Track are exactly the same between the two versions. If one of the ID3v2 tag fields has UNICODE characters then both ID3 versions can never be equal since IDv1 does not support UNICODE. Use this column as a tool to see which MP3's need updating to get both tag versions equal (if possible)
- The 'Lyrics?' column will simple show if the MP3 has lyrics in it's tag
- The 'Unique ID' column is an ID which is unique for the actual sound contents of the MP3. Two .mp3 files can be different in size because they can have different ID3 tag sizes but can still contain the exact same piece of music. To find duplicates among your MP3 collection you need to look at the actual sound contents of the file, this is exactly what was done when the Unique ID was calculated. It's not a hash so it's not a guaranteed 100% but in all the testing done it was always 100% accurate in finding the duplicates. The reason not a hash is being calculated is that this would be too time-consuming
- The 'Thumbnail MD5 Hash' column will show exactly what it says, the MD5 hash of the thumbnail of the MP3. You can use this column to see if all your MP3's in a certain folder have the correct image associated with them
- The 'Embedded Image?' column shows you which MP3's have an embedded image. Especially if you have your MP3's arranged in a folder per album it would be much better to have a single 'Folder.jpg' in that folder than to have each MP3 in that folder tagged with the same embedded image
A. Not yet. Solid Player however is easy to use. Just try. It's very intuitive.
